DOWNY BIRCH
Betula pubescens (Betulaceae)
Part of the plant used: buds (gemmae), internal bark of the root, rootlets, catkins
Treats arthrosis; is a diuretic and treats renal insufficiency; is a nervous tonic indicated for memory gaps when going through difficult studies and preparing exams.
Pharmacologic action: (from the clinical point of view no great differences seem to exist from Betula Verr): repeated rhinopharyngitis in adults, and usually any recurrent respiratory episodes, chronic sinusitis, tracheitis, tracheobronchitis and calcification disturbances, arthrosis, periodontitis, constipation, sexual asthenia, allergies (it increases the rate at which the carbon particles fixed by the reticuloendothelial cells are purged from the blood.
Dosage: 25 – 30 drops three times a day.
